In Blake’s own words…
Kilgore’s Kids has been such a huge part of my life.
It all started in August, 2016. Me and my family were at the Buckmasters Expo in Montgomery, Alabama. As I was looking at the booths I heard a man behind me say, “Hey boy, where’s your daddy? I wanna speak to him.”
That man was David Kilgore and little did I know that he was about to change my life. David had noticed my prosthetic leg in which I have had since I was 3 years old due to a horrible lawn mower accident. After I had gotten my dad and brought him to the Kilgore’s Kids booth, David told us about the great things his organization had done for kids like me.
I had always been drawn to hunting and loved to do it and David was not going to help me pursue my passion in a way I never thought possible. Over the years the Kilgore’s Kids organization has allowed me to experience things that I never dreamed I would be able to. David showed me that having a disability isn’t all bad. I’ve met so many great people and made so many great friends over the years, all because of the Kilgore’s Kids organization.
I am now 14 years old and just as avid of a sportsman as ever.
